Todays story is called,
"The Sneaky Sweepers",
Once upon a time in a small village, there was a family who lived in a cozy little house. This family loved to keep their home neat and tidy. Mama, Papa, and their two children, Lily and Ben, always worked together to clean up.
One sunny afternoon, Mama asked Lily and Ben to sweep the kitchen floor. "Make sure you get every corner," she reminded them. "We want the house to be nice and clean for our guests tonight."
Lily and Ben grabbed their brooms and started sweeping. As they swept, they found crumbs and bits of paper. It was hard work, and soon they felt tired.
"Hey, Ben," Lily whispered, "why don’t we just sweep all the rubbish under the carpet? No one will see it there, and we’ll be done quicker!"
Ben thought it was a clever idea. They lifted the edge of the carpet and quickly swept all the dirt underneath. The floor looked spotless, and they were proud of how fast they finished.
When Mama came to check, she smiled. "Great job, kids!" she said. Lily and Ben felt pleased with their cleverness.
That evening, their friends and neighbors arrived. Everyone was having a good time, chatting and laughing. Suddenly, there was a loud "CRUNCH!" under someone's feet. The guest stumbled, and Mama hurried over.
"What happened?" she asked.
The guest lifted the edge of the carpet, revealing all the hidden rubbish. Everyone gasped. Lily and Ben felt their faces turn red with shame.
Mama looked at them with kind but serious eyes. "Lily, Ben, is there something you want to tell us?"
Lily and Ben knew they couldn’t hide the truth anymore. "We thought it would be easier to just sweep the dirt under the carpet," Ben admitted. "We didn't think anyone would find out."
Mama nodded and then said, "Proverbs 28:13 tells us, 'Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.' It’s important to be honest and do our tasks properly, even if it seems like it will take more time. When we try to hide our mistakes, they can cause even bigger problems later."
Lily and Ben apologized to everyone and worked hard to clean up the mess properly. The guests helped too, and soon the floor was truly clean.
From that day on, Lily and Ben always remembered to do their chores the right way. They learned that honesty and hard work are always better than trying to take shortcuts.
So what have we learned from todays story?
Well, sometimes, it might seem easier to hide our mistakes or take shortcuts instead of doing things the right way. But, as we learn from Proverbs 28:13, hiding our wrongdoings can lead to bigger problems. It’s always best to be honest and face our tasks responsibly. By doing so, we show integrity and earn trust from others. Remember, doing the right thing might take more time, but it brings true satisfaction and peace.
Thank you for listening.
May God bless you!
